The Edge – In a world troubled by climate change, the use of biofuels to replace fossil fuels, which is a major greenhouse gas (GHG) contributor, is increasingly receiving widespread attention.

Feedstocks such as sugar, starch and oilseed crops can be processed into biofuel. But these are also food crops that can be used for human consumption, and the cultivation of these feedstocks has resulted in deforestation in some countries.

THE MALAYSIAN RESERVE – NEXT Generation Oil (Group) Sdn Bhd (NGOG) has called on local manufacturers to join its new Algae Farm Tank-Vendor Development Programme (ATF-VDP) to support the cultivation of 15,378ha or 38,000 acres of micro algae with total development cost estimated at US$38 billion (RM159.64 billion).

BERITA UTAMA / RTM – KUALA LUMPUR, 25 Februari– Next Generation Oil Sendirian Berhad merancang membangunkan ladang alga dengan nilai pelaburan US$38 bilion untuk tempoh 12 tahun akan datang.

Pengerusi Eksekutifnya, Datuk Indera Mohamed Moiz J.M Ali Moiz berkata, melaluinya syarikat akan menghasilkan teknologi bahan api boleh diperbaharui dan menjadi sumber ekonomi baharu.

Ladang berkeluasan lebih 15,000 hektar itu mampu menyemai 68 juta tan biojisim alga dan menghasilkan 34 juta tan minyak alga mentah.

Subsequent Technology Oil plans to develop 15,378 hectares of algae plantations over subsequent 12 years

ZTV NEWS – KUALA LUMPUR: Subsequent Technology Oil Sdn Bhd plans to develop 15,378.05 hectares of algae plantations in Malaysia at a improvement value of US$38 billion (US$1=RM4.2030) over the subsequent 12 years.

Govt chairman Datuk Indera Mohamed Moiz JM Ali Moiz mentioned with its A-MAP know-how, the plantation will have the ability to domesticate 68 million tonnes of algae biomass to soak up some 76 million tonnes of carbon dioxide and produce about 34 million tonnes of crude algae oil and dry algae cake.

“To implement this challenge, we want appropriate land which we have already got from Boustead Plantations Bhd and the Perlis state authorities. We’re at the moment in discussions with the state authorities of Kedah, FGV Holdings Bhd and different plantation corporations to amass extra land.
