KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 22): Boustead Holdings Bhd has entered into the next phase of its crude algae oil (CAO) venture with Next Generation Oil (Group) Sdn Bhd (NextGen Group) with the signing of an agreement on Monday (Nov 22) to subscribe to shares representing 10% equity interest in NextGen Group.

It said NextGen Group is the intended immediate holding company under the restructuring exercise by the promoters and shareholders of Next Generation Oil Sdn Bhd (Next Gen), a Malaysian-based technology company that has developed a patented, commercially viable and scalable process to cultivate micro algae, through carbon sequestration, and extract carbon neutral CAO that can be refined into sustainable biofuel. 

In a statement on Monday, Boustead group managing director Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly said the subscription agreement inked on Monday signifies the next phase of the group’s on-going partnership with NextGen Group and its commitment to produce renewable energy for a greener future, while creating new employment opportunities and an ecosystem spinoff that will help to boost the national economy.Sponsored Content

This agreement followed the signing of a memorandum of understanding with NextGen Group in April this year to jointly develop the venture. Due to the nationwide Movement Control Order, some of the works planned for the venture were put on hold.

Mohammed Shazalli said despite the challenges, NextGen Group has successfully completed the initial phase one of its development plan with the progress of its algae cultivation farm and crude algae oil extraction facility in Kuantan, Pahang.

“As we are now entering the national recovery phase with the lifting of the movement restrictions, we are able to accelerate our progress on this venture with all cylinders fired to make up for lost time,” he said.

Boustead plans to utilise its large land bank under the group for the development of large-scale algae plantations to meet the increasing global demand for biofuels.

Mohammed Shazalli said the venture in algae plantation and production of carbon neutral CAO is in line with the group’s green initiatives that enhances environmental, social and governance (ESG) — Boustead Hijau Agenda (BIJAU).

Position Summary

NGO is partnering with local colleges and schools to expose students to NGO Technician work at an Electric Utility. Most students in the automotive sciences are focusing on light duty cars and truck and very few consider moving into the Heavy Duty field. Our goal is to provide internship opportunities and identify potential candidates for future fleet technician positions at Next Generation Oil.

Responsibilities

• Perform light duty preventive maintenance and associated non-technical mechanical work
• Mount, dismount, and balance light and heavy duty tires
• Perform simple light duty repairs such as replacing wiper blades, jump starting, and headlight replacements
• Assist qualified VMT’s performing Preventive Maintenance and repairs on medium/heavy duty trucks and mounted equipment
• Clean garage floors, emptying trash, and maintaining general housekeeping inside and around garage area
• Washing and cleaning of vehicles/equipment for maintenance. Shuttle vehicles and equipment
• Perform garage compliance and safety inspections. Shuttle parts and equipment between garages and vendors
• Other non-technical duties as assigned by supervision

Basic Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED equivalent
• Candidate must be enrolled in an Associate’s Degree of Automotive Science or accredited equivalent certification program

• Engineer – 3 months and/or 8 months

Duties at the surface coal mine will be wide and varied, based on the needs of the operation. These duties may include all or some of the following:

• Surveying – Assist the survey crew with office computations and fieldwork utilizing GPS, drones, robotic total station or a remote-controlled boat.

• Computer – Work with various forms of engineering/surveying data to produce reports or studies.

• Permitting – Assist in the preparation of mining maps and permits.

• Design – Assist in engineering projects with field oversite and/or design of mine roads, ponds and special projects.

• Sampling – Working on the groundwater, soil sampling and geological programs.

Next Gen Oil looks at this position as an opportunity to expose an Engineer/Surveying student to a working operation and show the individual how an Engineering group functions in a working operation. At the same time Falkirk will utilize the individual’s time to accomplish tasks that will benefit the operation. Current pay rate is at rm1,000 per month. Safety toed shoes are required and are the responsibility of the applicant.
